Everybody back here has another Beer Leaguer Shorts podcast. Your quick little podcast of fun little tidbits and things that I found are on the Internet this week and just cool stuff that you should check out, as always. Thanks for everything in the show notes. And at the Belgacom first thing, now they have a new ad with Molson PD. If you don't know, is the new Women's Professional Hockey League. If you haven't checked that out, you should check it out. All their games are streaming on YouTube so you can go see them or you can go see them in person. But it's really good hockey and it's super fun. And hey, it's free streaming hockey. So check it out this month because it is Women's History Month. Molson is doing a special sponsorship ad deal with Al and flipping that name on their jersey from above the numbers to below the numbers so they can be seen because a lot of the women have longer hair and it blocks their names and putting the Molson ad little name underneath where the name used to be that's blocked by the hair. Cool idea. It's one of those. Why aren't they doing that normally and why just for this month. But cool thing. And they have an ad for it. That's pretty neat. Also came across a fun Reddit posting a beer league team fighting itself. Two guys on the team, somebody said something and starts a fight of the bunch. Comments are hilarious. Recommend checking it out, reading through it. It's fun. Let me know if that's ever happen to your team. I have never seen a team get into a full on fight on the bench like that. I've never seen that, but I've seen lots arguing on the bench. I've seen some pushing and shoving. I've never seen a full on fight on a bench. So that's a new one for me. Also a cool thing. If you've never looked at it, you're in the market for a new helmet. There is the Virginia Tech helmet ratings site. They go through and they do a series of tests on helmets and give you a rating on how well you know, they work for impact. So this is only for like direct impacts, you know, from different angles and stuff, but for direct impact. So it's not really a concussion prevention test or anything like that. It's just straight impact testing, but still interesting nonetheless. They have most brands of hockey helmets are on this list. A lot of brands, a lot of current, a lot of older helmets are on here. They do a035 star rating out. So you can kind of see and they tell you how the helmet did. They they give the helmet the top price at time of testing because they do have this is historical. So it goes back a number of years. I think the oldest one I've seen just clicking through it is I think 2017 is the oldest I've seen. So they don't have like super old helmets on here. But for the last couple of years they'll tell you how much it costs. The time shows you that helmet in comparison to other helmets and you can kind of see which think it's like I said not to be all end all testing score for helmets. But if you're in the market for a new helmet, it's something worth flipping through and taking a look and just kind of seeing. I don't know that anything that is in like the one star helmet I personally probably would be skipping those because I would like some impact protection, but I don't know. You need to go get a five star helmet from them. You know what they recommend for it. So. Well, it's something cool again. Link in the shownotes something to look at. Also another cool thing that I've come across, I'd never seen it before and I put this squarely in the category of why the heck has somebody not done this before as an idea? It's something called the Audie and what it is, is it's not specifically for hockey. It's got a lot of other applications like the show for camping and stuff, but we care about it for that. From the hockey aspect is it's a way to hang your gear. It's basically just some hooks and it looks like some kind of nylon strapping that they have on there. And you just hang the strap up and it's got the hooks for your gear. But yeah, it's a looks like a really easy way to hang your gear somewhere, especially if you're traveling with your gear, a super easy way to hang your gear for traveling because I mean, it's going to fold down into nothing because just kind of like a strapless box out. So it's going to be tiny and everything hangs up, you know, and as always, you should be hanging your gear after you play. Okay. The gross guy that leaves his stuff in the bag in the back of the car for the week, I'll be that guy. It's not cool. Trust me, your goals aren't going to go away if you don't smell like complete garbage. The next game. But yeah, it's called the addy you t t y. Like I said, they show a lot of applications for other things because it is a pretty simple design, so everything kind of hang up anything but they do show a lot of it for hockey. So something definitely worth checking out as a way to hang up your gear, either take it on the road or just hanging up a gear in your house somewhere, hanging on the back of a door for overnight and then dig down, put in your bag super easy. Final video. I want to talk about some that I saw comes out every year. If you didn't know over the weekend was the Minnesota State High school hockey Championships. And that means we got a all hockey hair team video. They've been putting these videos out every year for Woolworths. Been a long time. It's been a long time, ten years at least. So they've been putting these things out. So have a link for this. They're always funny, they're always really good. So if you've never watched one or even if you have, go check it out. Go check out the other videos that they have for the previous years. It's totally worth it. It's made by Sky. It's called Pull Tab Hockey. It's actually going to be the social media account of the week. Also follow pull tab hockey really just to go check out the other hockey here team videos, see how they've evolved. It's funny to see how they've gone from just him commenting on them and it looks like he's sitting in front of his TV with like a camera talking about it too. Now there's, you know, there's NHL players involved in it and it's a whole thing. It's gotten to be a big deal because they're so popular because they're ridiculous, they're hilarious. The commenting that he does on them is so perfect and it's so right. That fine line of being niche for hockey people to get it and think it's funny, but also anyone that has never watch hockey and doesn't get hockey will still think it's funny too. It's it's a very fine line too, to run with that. And every year he just rides right on that line. So check it out. Let's pull tab hockey and this is the all hockey hair team for 2024. All right, that's it. Again, this is a shorts. Just some cool stuff to check out if you're looking for some fun stuff to look at on the Internet this week. So check out show notes or the beer league dot com for all the links to everything that was mentioned. Thanks everybody. Catch you next time.
